The Autism & Behavioral Support
Center’s clinical staff have extensive experience in
the practice of Gentle Teaching, which was developed by
John
McGee, Ph.D., of the Gentle Teaching Institute in Omaha,
Nebraska.
Gentle Teaching creates an environment of trust, engagement,
and shared interactions. It encourages the development of
an atmosphere for the individual of feeling safe and loved,
being able to give love to others, and feeling connected with
others.
The Autism & Behavioral Support Center is an affiliate agency
of MORC, Inc., which has implemented the principles of Gentle
Teaching since 1986. CARF (formerly known as the Commission
on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) has commended
MORC, Inc. for its Gentle Teaching philosophy, stating that
it “focuses on the effectiveness of positive, nurturing
communication approaches.” |
